It is difficult to provide your employees with a sense of motivation to get tasks done. Most employees don't fully understand the importance of their specific labor as a part of the entire company's productivity. If you run a small company a great way to help motivate your employees is to create a task board. Even though a task board sounds like a very dull idea it can actually be a marginal bit of fun that your employees can look forward to. When constructing your task board it is important to consider creativity, applicability, and the amount of interaction between the employees and the board.

It is extremely important that your task board concentrates on important tasks that need to be done. Your task board should not be a long list of mundane tasks that can be overlooked. Your task board should have the assignment that needs to be done as well as their due dates. Also important to include is the steps to multi-stepped jobs. This will help keep track of worker productivity and keep track of what has been done and what needs to get done. The task board can also be a good place to put memos or general information important for your workforce.

In order to make the task board a tool that employees would like to use it must be made with a certain amount of interaction in mind. Using the task board should require employees to add, subtract, move, or cross out. It is scientifically proven that when a person crosses something off a list the brain releases a chemical substance similar to the endorphins released when working out. That is why employee interaction with the task board is crucial. This can be done by having the employees add stickers or write on the board.

Creativity is the most key element when devising a task board. You have to find ways to have your employees add to it and use it. The task board should not blend in with the surroundings at work. Use different colors for different tasks. Color coding wouldn't only make the task board more fun, but it will also make it more organized. The color coding will help direct workers directly to the job they want to look for when they associate the color to the job. You can even use pictures if you prefer to make your board more illustrated.

The most important thing about the task board is that it must be dependable and accurate. This means that it must be updated as soon as tasks are done. It also means that the task board cannot always be influx. The task board must be a constant. If the task board is not a reliable source of information then it is no good and employees will ignore it. This can easily be avoided by only putting up on the task board elements that are fixed and do not change as well as keeping the task board updated. The task board will help employees know what assignments are done and what needs to get done. It also helps the boss see if they are ahead or behind schedule. The task board will help everyone in the office be more sure and more aware of what it is they do and contribute to.
