One must often be concerned with how they make sales- in the store and over the telephone. Many times a first contact for customers will be via the telephone. That is why knowing some important telephone sales tips can be such an integral part of sales. Verbal telephone sales, and the skills which go along with this, can often make up the bulk of a company's inquiries and business. Telephone sales tips are valuable knowledge to pass along to your employees. Their verbal telephone skills and sales can lead to much of your success and theirs.

One of the most important telephone sales tips which everyone should follow is to behave over the phone as if the customer is looking directly at you. Smile while talking, nod your head, and perform as if you are in a face to face conversation.

This extends to general attitude when speaking with a client over the phone. Pretend as if you are meeting with her in person. Smile along with the conversation- it comes through in your speech patterns!

One should also refrain from annoying habits such as eating or chewing gum while on the phone with a client. Again, always pretend you are face to face with a big account.

Verbal telephone skills and sales must also be handled through an employee who is knowledgeable about the business. All of this implies strength in customer service.

Telephone sales tips are just as important to emphasize to your staff as those of field manners. Require that everyone speak clearly and without chewing gum and eating during conversations with clients.
