The Great Child Support Business

By: Ron Lasorsa

There is a great deal of untruth surrounding child support administration, and I feel that we need to stop and the government’s definition of child support and how practical it really is.
I’ve checked out many of the fathers rights groups and while I understand their mission, I don’t advocate for Father’s Rights. I am a Family Rights proponent and Advocate for Children. I’ve seen the divorce industry ruin both mothers and fathers —financially, emotionally and physically.
As far as the divorce industry is concerned , child support is the end game. It is the mother’s milk on which it thrives. . It is a confiscatory system which extracts money from the non-custodial parent and transfers it to the custodial parent skimming money off the top—in the form of interest on the money that it earns during the time the agency is holding it.
What is the interest earned on all the child support paid in your for a week? What is the amount? I don’t know but it must be big business. Think of the millions paid in child support each year and imagine earning even a small percentage of interest on that sum.
The term “14 Percenter” is used by some Father’s Rights groups . This is based on the idea that a lot of fathers only have their children two days out of the week, which calculates to about 14% of the time each year. You don’t have to be a brilliant economist to see the difference between what it costs to raise the average child vs. what is awarded by child support guidelines . Lawyers litigate based on these state guidelines. Furthermore, there is no check or balance on where that money goes. Everyone has heard horror stories of parents who have paid child support every month, only to have their kids show up for visitation looking filthy and hungry. At one point I was paying over $10,000 a month in child support and alimony. Did it cost $10,000 to raise my children for a month? Absolutely not! We didn’t live an extravagant lifestyle before my divorce, so what was the basis for a figure that large?
More often than not, the child’s best interest is not the main concern when calculating child support . It is simply a manner to extract as much money as possible from the non-custodial parent with a little skimmed off the top, to the custodial parent. That’s the bottom line. It’s a scam. My blog and my website (http://www.childsupport411.com) are just one small attempt to lift up the rock and shine the light on the vermin that operate within the divorce industry.
