Phone cards – is there a hidden issue?

By: Mathew Petrenko

If you are a frequent caller, it might be quite a nice idea buying cheap calling cards. When you know in what way to use these cards, they can help you economize a fortune and give you a lot more time. You may want to look at Asia Mama or some other providers. However, there are some hidden charges that must be researched to make sure that you are getting bargain you have been looking for.

Long-distance calling cards may be made for any country, you may easily get your hands on Poland phone cards. Conversations with calling cards are significantly less expensive than using standard phone conversations. It is not important whether you are concerned with trying short-distance or international calls, using local or long-distance calling cards will assist you with saving on the cost of the call immensely. Another noticeable advantage of phone calling cards is that you can call from any phone, even your cellular friend. You will be able to make long-distance phone calls at a laughable cost from almost any phone booth. This is probably the main reason why many heavy vehicle drivers and students buy long-distance calling cards as they allow for fun away from home.

Some people might especially like the fact that the connections you make using calling cards are very difficult if at all possible to trace back to you. Legendary, isn’t it? However, when you are planning to buy some very cheap cards, do not go too fast. The difficulty with calling phone cards is connected with additional surcharges that the phone card provider would rather not openly disclose. Because of that doing some research before you buy any prepaid cards is a good idea. When people buy phone cards they often check the rate that is printed on them in strong letters. In a lot of instances the rate that you see in huge type is not the rate the provider is going to charge you. That occurs because there can be hidden costs. An example of a hidden tariff typically connected with long-distance calling cards is the connection and ‘hang-up’ fee. A connection fee is the amount that is taken from your phone card each time the connection is established. The disconnection fee is much rarer. It is charged after the talk. One more undisclosed tariff with calling cards is aka monthly charge the company draws from you card. The clock usually begins ticking after you make your first call. If you are not a frequent telephone user, getting such a card is not a smart idea. A number of providers do multiple minute rounding which is one extra surcharge phone card holders have to pay. The usual approximation is to the next minute. However, on some cards the approximation can include several minutes. So, for instance, if the rounding is to the next 5 minutes, you can speak for 7 minutes and be asked to pay for 10. As you can see from this publication, there are huge advantages to employing prepaid phone cards, yet some research is a must before you proceed with your investment.
