Meet Jackson Pollock

By: james aspey

Meet Jackson Pollock:

Have you ever tried letting your ideas flow freely ?? Have you ever
tried painting beyond the limits of canvas?? If you haven't you must
meet Jackson Pollock, a person whose paintings were simply not
drawings on canvas rather they were the unspoken tales of
joy, happiness and freedom of the uncluttered human mind.

Jackson Pollock was one of the biggest celebrities in arts of the
20th century. His style of painting inspired many and resulted in many
debates. He is widely believed to be one of the founding fathers of
"action painting".

Some of his designs contributed not only to arts but also to science
like some of them resembled the chaotic symbols much before the actual
chaotic theory was discovered. He tried to break the shackles in the
viewers mind and the pre-conceived notions in their mind by titling
many of his paintings in numbers rather than names.

His technique was a blend of Indian sand painting
demonstrations, mexican muralists among the others,
made by trickling thin lines of colored sand onto a horizontal surface.
He always gave preference to the hardness of the surface and thus
enjoyed painting on walls and floors. His masterpieces include cathedral,
shimming substance and blue poles : number II to name a few.

His paintings avoided any point of emphasis within the whole canvas
and the traditional concept of relation between different parts of a
painting.
He always believed in the idea of "talking to his paintings" and believed
that
as long as he is talking to them he is making great paintings but as soon
as the
conversation is over, he is ruining them.

His paintings depict the energy in youth, the inner desire to fly
freely in the open wide sky. He played a significant role in the
development of his wife into a great abstract painter.
His creativity and his novel works in art made him a champion among the
art
lovers. He devoted his entire life to arts and lead a sad social life
dominated by alcoholism but he was like a man who "came and
conquered", and joined the ranks of Van Gogh and Alexander in terms of
showing everyone "how to follow their dreams".

He shined like one of the brightest stars in his short but inspiring life
and although he is no more with us but his legacy still lives on in the
form of his masterpieces and the values inculcated by him in the
generation of artists to come
