How to Avoid a Gambling Problem

Here are some tips I have found that will help protect you from yourself when gambling in an online casino or land based casino.

Limiting the Time You Play:
By picking a stop time before entering the casino you can control the amount you may lose. This is the simplest method there is. All you have to do is set the alarm on your cell phone for a specific time and once you hear the alarm you finish the round you are in and then you leave the casino. Leaving the casino will not only stop you from losing any more money but it will also allow you to clear your head and eventually you can return t the casino and start fresh from the beginning.

Cap Your Spending:
This method gives you a little more control over the amount you can lose in any given gambling session. You pick an amount of money you are prepared to lose. If and when that limit is reached you cash out from your game. By capping your time you can still lose lots of money before the limit is reached but with this method you can play for an hour of 12 hours as long as you do not reach the predetermined limit. To help make sure that you do not spend over your limit you can only bring the amount you want to gamble with to the casino and leave the rest in the car, the hotel room or with a friend to help guarantee that you stick to the limit.

Life Line:
No one should ever go to a casino alone. By going alone there is no one who can say "hey buddy don't you think you are spending too much?" this is important because sometimes we all need to be brought back to reality. Sometimes in a casino we can not only lose track of time, but we also loose track of reality. Chips do not appear to be real money, and where as you cam t the casino to lay a few hundred at the tables but before you know it you have spent over a thousand and cleaned out your savings.

Internet Cafe:
The good thing about gambling in an online casino at an internet café terminal is that you have to pay by the hour to play on the computer so you can play for an hour or 2 then when your time is up the computer will log you off and you are done gambling. Another good thing about an internet café is that you can not get overly comfortable there. At home you can continue to play and play but in a café you will eventually get tired of sitting there and will leave.

Gambling on the Go
Many people are too busy to be able to get away to a casino or play in an online casino, but they have the time to do their gambling from their cell phones. To help them stop from going overboard I recommend they use a prepaid cell phone which can be purchased very cheaply. These phones require you to purchase talk time in advance and when the phone is out of time until you buy more minutes the phone wont work. So if you spend more time in the casino then you have minutes the phone disconnects. This allows you to limit your gambling time and helps protect your bank account.

Anything you can do to help keep your gambling under control is a good thing and if you are the type of person that can lose control you should definitely use some method when gambling in any of its forms.
