Essential elements of a Very powerful mastermind group

By: Lanny Morton

Starting a mastermind group is a great way to surround yourself with positive people. Your mastermind group becomes your personal "Board of Directors" for your life, looking out for your best interest.

An ideal number of people to start a mastermind group is 10-12. Invariably, a few flake out and don't commit the time and usually its because they don't want to get out of their comfort zone. Also, over time, people move or leave town.

People seem to attend the mastermind group meetings more often and with better regularity if they are held at the same place and at the same time each week. People are very habitual, use this to your advantage.

The ideal place to hold a mastermind group is free of distractions. Attempt to avoid crying babies, phones ringing and other background noise so the group can focus on the meeting. Library conference rooms are really good.

Once you have your group together and your time and place picked out, Use your 1st meeting to establish the ground rules of participation. Establishing ground rules helps emphasize the importance of showing up and paying attention.

Think and Grow Rich written by Napoleon Hill is a fantastic book to use for the 1st several weeks of the group getting together. The book instills a great basic skill set and gets people use to using their higher mental faculties instead of just their senses. It also gets peoples desire fired up.

The time the meeting should last should be at least an hour and not to exceed 1 1/2 hours. Prevent one person from doing all the talking and keep the conversation moving using everyone at the meeting for different ideas.

The more you give, the more you get. Each person should come to the meeting with a spirit of giving. It makes it so you have 10-12 people giving to you in your life at all times. Be about other people and the value you create will be tremendous.
